Get ready to portal-hop once again — Splitgate 2 kicks off its open beta on May 22. The fast-paced sci-fi shooter from 1047 Games will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S with full crossplay support.

This time, the game promises more content right out of the gate. Players can try out over 25 weapons, including the brand-new energy carbine Borealis, which wasn’t in the original game. There’ll also be 15+ maps — with two specifically designed for intense 24-player battles — and more than 10 different game modes, including the fan-favorite Takedown.

Just like in the first Splitgate, players can use portals for creative and fast-paced movement across maps. It’s the signature mechanic that made the original stand out. The developers also teased a new concept called “infinite maps,” but haven’t revealed what it actually means yet — more info is expected as beta approaches.

The full release of Splitgate 2 is scheduled for later in 2025, but the open beta is shaping up to be a major first look at what’s next for the franchise.
