The classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy might soon return with a new-gen twist. Fans noticed that the bundle “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone” has been rated in Taiwan for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, which hints that a re-release or upgrade is on the way. This isn’t just the old versions being recycled — a separate rating for PS4 and Xbox One came out back in March 2024. Now it looks like current-gen consoles are getting their turn.
This move could mean that developer GSC Game World is almost ready to launch the next-gen edition or at least reveal when it's coming. They already mentioned in December that they were working on a next-gen patch and PC upgrades for the trilogy. Then in April, they gave a more specific timeline, saying the updates were planned for the second quarter of this year — so basically, anytime between now and the end of June.
While there are no official details on what will be improved, players have high hopes based on past complaints about the trilogy’s console versions. The PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch editions didn’t impress much. Gamers called out weak graphics compared to PC, clunky controls, and a messy interface. Hopefully, the new-gen version will fix these issues and make the iconic series feel fresh again.
