It would seem that after a disastrous launch and scathing reviews, Skull and Bones was doomed to fade into obscurity. Yet, against all odds, Ubisoft has announced extensive plans to support its AAAA game throughout all of 2025. The first major update will release on April 15, with a special stream scheduled for the day before, April 14, to detail the upcoming content.
According to insider information, Ubisoft's plans include:
- A significant expansion of the game world with the addition of new dangerous regions
- The introduction of a lineup of powerful warships, including legendary Spanish galleons
- A complete overhaul of the customization and boarding systems
- New storylines tied to historical figures
It remains unclear why the company is doing all this. Perhaps supporting the game is part of an agreement with the Singaporean government, whose funding made this entire endeavor possible in the first place. There are also rumors of negotiations with Netflix regarding a potential adaptation—and a "dead" game certainly wouldn’t generate any positive buzz.
