In the gaming industry, there is a combination of letters introduced by Ubisoft that has become a massive meme. Of course, we’re talking about so-called AAAA games.

The term AAAA — “super-high-budget project” — was used by Ubisoft’s head to describe the action game Skull & Bones, explaining why they decided to sell it for $70. As it turned out, convincing players didn’t work out, as its daily peak online rarely exceeds 200 players.

At first glance, Skull & Bones seemed like a worthy opponent to Concord in the race on malfunctioning money-burning engine cars, with a finish at the most deserted corner of the gaming industry’s graveyard. That makes it all the more surprising to read a report from Tom Henderson claiming that Ubisoft is working on Year Two content for the game.

The first season of next year’s support is set to begin in early 2025, and its content will include new PvP modes, points of interest, and other new features. Ubisoft is also reportedly considering crossover ideas with some of its other games, such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

All of this is concerning, as Ubisoft’s current situation has been influenced by poor decisions from top management. The situation with Skull & Bones doesn’t seem to inspire much optimism at first glance. We’ll have to wait for confirmations and specific announcements from Ubisoft.
