After two years in early access on Steam and GOG, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is nearing its full release. Today, the developers at Questline released the final major content update, version 0.9, titled The Once and Future King. To mark the occasion, the team unveiled two trailers: a gameplay-focused one and a cinematic masterpiece crafted by Unit Image, known for their work on Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate III.

Update 0.9 is the largest in the game’s history and introduces nearly final versions of the prologue and first act, offering approximately 20 hours of gameplay (the full release will feature three acts spanning 50-70 hours). All content is available with English voice acting and text localization in 12 languages.

The update brings a wealth of new features, including fresh dungeons, enemies, loot, and quests. Romantic storylines have been added, alongside an enhanced crafting system that includes forging, alchemy, and cooking. New mechanics such as farming and animal taming have also been implemented. Character attributes have been revamped, new abilities introduced, and the combat system made more dynamic.

Finishing moves have been completely reanimated, lighting and weather effects overhauled, and the user interface redesigned. New guilds with their own quests have been added, along with the Night of Wonder system, which features updated graphics and balance adjustments.

As is typical with major updates during early access, players must start a new game to experience the changes, as old save files are no longer supported. However, players can choose their starting point from the main menu—whether it’s the beginning, the middle, or the current endgame.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a dark fantasy action RPG inspired by the eponymous board game. Players are transported to a world shaped by Arthurian legends, specifically the island of Avalon. Years after King Arthur’s death, a mysterious plague known as the "Red Death" spreads across the land, setting the stage for an epic adventure.
