The Chinese government plans to collaborate with miHoYo (HoYoverse) in creating anime films based on the game universes of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. This collaboration is part of a three-year plan to turn Shanghai into a center of modern film production. To this end, the authorities have begun to communicate with major film and game companies, as well as special effects production studios, including miHoYo (HoYoverse) and Tjsports (information and analysis agency).
Representatives from the party's film department conducted research at miHoYo's headquarters. During the meeting, they discovered the potential of gaming technologies for creating high-quality animated films, as well as explored new ways to develop the connection between films and video games. In turn, miHoYo employees stated that they would carefully study the three-year action plan for the Shanghai project and strive to ensure that their two popular games, Genshin and Honkai, receive film adaptations.
In 2023, Chinese developers have already announced an anime series based on Genshin Impact, releasing a trailer, but there have been no news about the project since then.
