The South Korean developers from Neople are set to release a major content update for their action RPG, The First Berserker: Khazan, on May 15. Titled Ultimate Challenge, the update focuses on post-story content and introduces two demanding boss rush modes. Players can only access these after completing the main campaign to avoid any narrative spoilers.
The two modes are as follows:
- Great General's Crucible – a sequential boss gauntlet with themed enemy groups. Players must overcome one group to unlock the next, each with preset equipment, skills, and difficulty conditions.
- Berserker's Bloodbath – a progression-based mode where players enhance their character by earning rewards during fights, ultimately leading to a battle against a powerful final boss.
In addition to the combat modes, players will be able to change their character's appearance during their first playthrough after completing the "Blacksmith’s Heirloom" quest. Developers also stated they’re fine-tuning the balance between challenge and reward to keep the experience engaging but fair.
Later in May or early June, another update will bring quality-of-life enhancements:
- New permanent items allow quick travel to Russelinne or the last Blade Core interacted with.
- Teleportation will be enabled between unlocked Blade Cores.
- After certain fetch quests, players will spawn directly near the spectral portal for quicker replays.
A mid-June patch is also planned, focusing on system improvements and balance tweaks, details of which will be shared soon.
