At the end of 2024, the first cinematic trailer for The Witcher 4 stunned fans with its intense action and striking visuals. Though not rendered in-engine, the trailer used game assets for characters and environments, with motion captured by live actors. Platige Image, the Polish studio behind the visuals, has now unveiled exclusive footage from the production.

The highlight of the scene was the dramatic battle between Ciri and a monstrous baúk, a spider-like creature. To capture the fight, the studio designed a custom rig simulating the limbs and head of the beast, with a real-life model sculpted to guide performers on set.

The motion was recorded in a single take to preserve the rawness of the movement. One of the trailer’s most iconic moments—Ciri’s aerial chain leap—was conceived just ten minutes before filming began, showcasing the team’s creative spontaneity.

Platige Image attributes the trailer’s success to the combined power of creativity, cutting-edge motion capture, and exceptional stunt talent. As they humorously noted, no actual monsters were harmed in the making of the trailer.
