The mission in Witcher 3, called Ashen Marriage, was to take place in Novigrad. In the story, Triss falls in love with Castello and wants to get married as soon as possible. Geralt acts as a helper in this story, helping to prepare the wedding: he cleans the canals of monsters, gets alcohol and chooses a gift for the bride.

Interestingly, the choice of gift affects Triss's reaction. For example, a memory rose, familiar from The Witcher 2, would cause her a storm of emotions, while simpler gifts are less warmly received.

But the plans are disrupted by an unexpected twist: Dijkstra reveals that Edmund has ties to the witch hunters, which raises doubts about his sincerity. It turns out that the nobleman is acting under duress - the hunters blackmail him by threatening to reveal the secret of his daughter from a previous marriage.

Geralt can tell Triss the truth either alone or together with Edmund. In both cases, the wedding is cancelled: Triss is either disappointed in her fiancé or thanks him for his honesty, but considers the marriage hasty.

This plot twist could have added depth to Geralt and Triss' relationship, as well as expanding the development of secondary characters.
