Sixty-seven years ago, the city of Lumiere was suddenly severed from the mainland by an unknown force. During this same period emerged the enigmatic Paintress, whose numbers became harbingers of death - anyone who reached the inscribed age would soon perish.

The city organized 32 Expeditions to stop her, all ending in failure. Now hopes rest on the next mission, which includes Maelle. Together with other team members, she must accomplish what her predecessors could not.
