Hasbro is gearing up to reveal its plans for the future of Baldur’s Gate, according to Dan Ayoub, the company’s Senior Vice President. During an interview with IGN at GDC 2025 in San Francisco, Ayoub hinted that updates are just around the corner.
Image: pinterest.com After Larian Studios wrapped up development on Baldur’s Gate III, which continues to receive post-launch content updates, Hasbro has taken the reins once again. The game, released in 2023, set a new standard for RPGs, leaving Hasbro with big shoes to fill. Ayoub acknowledged the challenge, stating, “It’s an unenviable position,” but assured fans that the company is approaching the franchise’s future carefully and thoughtfully.
“We have a lot of ideas and various paths we could take,” Ayoub shared. “We’re beginning to explore possibilities and consider what makes sense moving forward. Very soon—without teasing too much—we’ll have some topics to discuss.”
Whether Hasbro is contemplating a direct sequel like Baldur’s Gate IV or experimenting with crossovers akin to Magic: The Gathering remains unknown. What is clear, however, is the company’s strong commitment to gaming. In the past year, Hasbro invested over $1 billion into internal studios, including Atomic Arcade and Archetype Entertainment, signaling their dedication to producing top-tier games.
As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await Hasbro’s next move, hoping it will do justice to the iconic Baldur’s Gate series.
