Wuthering Waves, the gacha RPG often compared to Genshin Impact, is gearing up to celebrate its first anniversary. The game officially launched on May 22, 2024, and the developers have kicked off the festivities early. One of the biggest announcements is the arrival of Wuthering Waves on Steam, where it is available completely free of charge, just like on other platforms.
The Steam release has already attracted significant attention. With over two thousand user reviews in a short period, the game is sitting comfortably with a "Very Positive" rating. Long-time players especially appreciate the game’s stunning visuals, rich world design, and the cinematic presentation of its story-driven moments. The gameplay is often praised for avoiding excessive grind, which tends to be common in the genre.
Despite these strengths, some criticism remains. The most frequent complaint concerns the absence of Russian language support — a feature still missing even a year after release. Nonetheless, the game saw a recent surge in players, with peak concurrent users approaching 11,506. At the time of writing, more than ten thousand players were active on Steam, many drawn in by the newly released anniversary update.
