While many gamers are still processing the controversial Minecraft movie trailer, another highly popular game is set to receive a live-action adaptation. Amazon MGM Studios and Electronic Arts have officially confirmed that work is underway on a live-action adaptation of The Sims.

Lots of details about the project remain unknown. The production will be handled by Margot Robbie's company, LuckyChap, and the adaptation will be directed by Kate Herron, known for her work on the first season of Loki and The Last Of Us for HBO.

EA Vice President Kate Gorman promised to carefully bring the authentic Sims gameplay experience, along with a representation of the game’s lore. She also mentioned that the adaptation will include numerous Easter eggs, such as the infamous pool without a ladder or the appearance of Freezer Bunnies.

It’s still unclear whether the producers will opt to have the adaptation in The Sims' iconic in-game language, Simlish, with subtitles in human languages. This option is on the table, but no final decision has been made yet.
