Media outlets report that Amazon has won the rights to the future adaptation of The Sims. According to journalists, several companies competed for the opportunity to create the film. Netflix was among the main contenders for the adaptation, but the project's creators ultimately preferred Amazon, believing the tech giant could provide the best conditions to bring their vision to life.

A key factor was the producers' desire to release the film in wide theatrical distribution, rather than limiting it to online-only screenings. The film's direction and co-writing will be led by Kate Herron, known for her work on the first season of the Marvel series "Loki". Margot Robbie and her production company LuckyChap will serve as key producers on the project.

However, many were initially skeptical, dismissing the reports as mere rumors. It is now clear that the Hollywood star is indeed part of the project team as a producer.

Unfortunately, the exact start date of production for the The Sims film remains undisclosed, as does the cast. Nonetheless, game fans eagerly await updates on the upcoming adaptation.

It's worth noting that The Sims is not the only gaming project Amazon has taken on — the streaming giant previously announced the development of a series based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise.
