Epic Games' triumph will lead to the elimination of 15-30% commission fees for in-app purchases and subscriptions in iOS applications. Additionally, Apple will no longer be able to prohibit developers from using alternative payment systems and links to third-party stores.

The ironic part is that Apple may now face another lawsuit - for contempt of court. The company violated a 2021 court injunction, and its Vice President Alex Roman gave false testimony under oath.

This decision currently only applies to the U.S. - the court didn't extend it to other countries. Epic Games insists on global changes but is willing to compromise: if Apple meets this demand, Fortnite will return to the App Store as early as next week, and all other lawsuits will be dropped.

Epic Games deliberately breached App Store policies in August 2020 by introducing direct payment options in Fortnite. This led to Apple's removal of the game from the marketplace and sparked a landmark legal battle, with Epic alleging Apple's monopoly through its 30% cut and restrictions on competing payment systems.ย
