Journalist Stephen Totilo provided clarification regarding the wave of layoffs at Microsoft in September.

Totilo's source revealed that some developers from Activision Blizzard's mobile gaming are among the affected as well, including those working on the action-strategy game Warcraft Rumble and CoD: Warzone Mobile. Although the titles will continue functioning, support for them will be reduced. For instance, new content for Warcraft Rumble will no longer be released.

Interestingly, if the sources are right, these layoffs are not related to the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard merger. However, the titles did not meet player count expectations, prompting the corporation, like other publishers, to find new methods to solve the challenges of the mobile market, where even games from well-known franchises struggle to succeed.

On September 12, Stephen Totilo reported that around 650 employees from the gaming division, primarily in corporate roles and support, would be laid off.
