Riot Games is stepping into the big and dangerous world of live-action adaptations. It looks like the game developer will work on LoL TV Series, and Vietnam might be the place where all of the filming happens. Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recently met with Riot and a film crew to discuss shooting a nine-episode show there.

With Arcane’s massive success, it was only a matter of time before Riot expanded its media projects. This new series will be the first live-action adaptation of the most popular MOBA in the world. While the exact setting is still unknown, the production team has its eyes on Cát Bà, a stunning archipelago with clear waters and rocky islands. Fans speculate that this could mean a story set in Bilgewater—fitting for a pirate adventure.

Big names are attached to the project, and one of them is Rose Lam, a producer on HBO’s The Last of Us. That alone suggests Riot is going all-in on quality.

Since filming won’t start until late 2025, it’ll be a while before we see the final product. But this move proves Riot is serious about expanding the League of Legends universe beyond games.
