According to insiders, following massive layoffs in September 2024, which resulted in the company losing around 40 employees, the remaining team continued to support the project. However, by December, this group was also disbanded — approximately 20 more employees lost their positions.
At the moment, only the founders and possibly a few staff members remain at Ballistic Moon. Meanwhile, the PR, marketing, and development departments have effectively ceased to exist. The studio is no longer supporting the game's remake — even player reports of bugs are being ignored, as there is simply no one left to handle them.
The company's management reportedly made every effort to secure additional funding and attract new publishers, but all attempts proved futile. Negotiations with Sony regarding continued support or funding for future updates for the remake also ended without success.
Although employees generally spoke positively about the team and the work process, many complained about unpaid overtime. Additionally, news of the layoffs came immediately after a period of intense work, which caused dissatisfaction among the remaining staff.
No official statement regarding the studio's closure has been made yet. Formally, the team still exists, but in reality, development and project support have completely halted. Resumption of work is only possible if a new investor or publisher steps in, though such prospects currently appear highly unlikely.
Insiders note that the future of the studio remains uncertain. All attempts to contact Ballistic Moon's management or Sony have so far gone unanswered.
