After Steins;Gate ReBoot was announced, many fans were wondering about the fate of the announced sequel to this legendary visual novel, as well as the status of the Hollywood live action adaptation. Luckily, the producer Tatsuya Matsubara shared some interesting insights in the interview.

First of all, he once more confirmed that the sequel to the Steins;Gate and its ReBoot are the two separate projects. Matsubara mentioned that the sequel (currently titled Steins;???) is in the so-called Concept stage. This means that all ideas are now being brought together, and after this job is done, a game script production will start. In visual novels, scripts are the main part of the game, so we can safely say that the game won't see the light any time soon.

As for the Hollywood live-action adaptation of Steins Gate, Matsubara answered pretty shortly: the project is not dead, but no more details are allowed. To be honest, that is not a good sign. We all know how Hollywood companies like to acquire rights to certain IP, but that doesn't convert fast into the new content. We might see something similar here as well. Let's hope that both of these projects won't get stuck in the production hell.
