Twitch has revised its moderation rules to classify cheating in online games as a minor violation, significantly reducing the associated penalties. Under the new policy, accounts caught using cheats will receive a one-day suspension.
Repeat offenders within a 90-day period will face a three-day ban. Once this period ends, the account is considered "clean," erasing any prior infractions related to cheating. Additionally, if no further violations occur within three months, the history of these minor offenses is cleared entirely.

According to Twitch, "Most violations are typically of low severity (e.g., cheating in online games) and expire after 90 days." The platform justifies this approach by emphasizing the importance of giving users a second chance. However, more severe violations, such as hate speech or harassment, remain on a user's record for up to two years and could result in permanent bans.
This updated policy reflects Twitch's commitment to balancing accountability with rehabilitation, aiming to create a fairer and more forgiving environment for its community while maintaining strict consequences for serious misconduct.
