Deadlock is a young project, evolving right before our eyes. The interval between new patches can be as short as a few days, and something is constantly changing in the game. Of course, this leads to some technical issues, which we discussed in this article, but the next day a micro-patch is released, and everything is fixed again.
What’s new in Deadlock?
As mentioned earlier, patches are released regularly, so changes are made constantly. However, most of these are small fixes that are difficult for the average player to notice. For example, the latest patch, 02.09, focused on balance adjustments. It affected characters like Infernus, Viscous, Seven, and Ivy.Changes in a few lines of numbers might go unnoticed by many, but there’s also some "big fish" here.
Deadlock update 30.08
A fresh wave of changes has literally hit the players! Those participating in the test understand what I’m talking about. If you’re just following the game, imagine this scenario: you didn’t read the match description and joined a game of Deadlock — a fast-paced but linear MOBA. The match starts as usual, gunfights ensue, and suddenly your opponent jumps off a wall and appears behind you.
Surprised? I was too when they started shooting at me from rooftops! Yes, the major update in Deadlock introduced movement changes, making the game more dynamic. Now, players can use a wall jump that doesn’t consume stamina — this drastically alters the course of the match. Moreover, the developers introduced vertical gameplay: players on rooftops won’t take damage, the height of several buildings was reduced, and some buildings now have ropes for climbing.
Deadlock has become even faster and more varied, but not everyone is happy with this decision. Even before these changes, inexperienced players couldn’t feel comfortable. The fast-paced gameplay left them no chance against those who had logged hundreds or thousands of hours in other esports titles. Now, even experienced players find Deadlock too fast-paced and intense.
Other important changes
The major 30.08 patch not only changed movement but also introduced the ability to pause a match (with only 3 pauses per team), which is quite convenient. Additionally, a personal player profile with stats finally became available. Now, players can track their progress and view information about their teammates.
However, now you can not only study your ally (or opponent) but also ban them. Inappropriate players can now be reported, which should significantly reduce toxicity in the game.
Of course, there were balance adjustments, bug fixes, UI improvements, and AI tweaks. The patch was truly massive, but the most valuable additions were player stats and the new movement mechanics. We’ll continue following the updates to see how Deadlock evolves.
