How to Unlock and Where to Find?
To access the boss weekly, you will need to complete the storyline quest "A New Star Approaches." The quest that unlocks the fight with Childe is "Heart of Glaze."
After that, to start the battle, you must find the dungeon of punishment called "Golden House." There are four difficulty levels available to choose from.
Best Characters for the Fight
The battle is divided into three phases. The boss doesn’t have a huge health pool, but he deals significant damage. Most of his attacks are quite fast, and dodging them when unprepared is very difficult.
Additionally, he has a 50% resistance to Electro damage. When in the "Stun" state, the boss loses this resistance and begins taking 50% more damage from all other types of damage.
You can take almost any character for the fight, but it's better to avoid characters who deal Electro damage. Also, Hydro characters may face some difficulties in the first phase. Notably, partners who can shield and quickly heal the team are useful.
Team Examples
Let’s look at some of the most effective teams for the boss fight.
Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hu Tao | Xingqiu | Albedo | Diona | A team based on the Vaporize reaction. Any strong Pyro character can act as the main carry. |
Hu Tao | Sucrose | Lynette | Layla | An alternative version of the first team, focusing on powerful Pyro damage. |
Mavuika | Citlali | Bennett | Noelle | A current Natlan team using powerful damage from Mavuika and support characters to increase her damage and survivability. |
Arlecchino | Citlali | Bennett | Noelle | A team with another strong carry and support characters. Bennett here helps clear "Tide" markers. |
Childe's Attacks and Abilities
The battle with the boss has a clear division into three phases.
Phase 1: Hydro Vision
Image: youtube.com
The boss looks like an ordinary human, and this is the form he used when interacting with the protagonist during the Liyue storyline. The main mechanic in this phase is "Tide". This is an effect that the boss applies with almost every ability.
A character affected by it gains Hydro status. Additionally, the enemy gains access to extra abilities as long as the player hasn’t removed this mark. It can be removed by touching the edge of the arena.
If you manage to deal a large amount of damage in a short time, the boss will enter the "Stun" state. In this state, he stops attacking the player and takes significantly more damage. Once the boss recovers, he uses the ability "Explosion".
Quick Shot
Image: youtube.com
After a brief delay, the boss starts shooting Hydro arrows towards the player, dealing damage on hit and knocking back. He fires four arrows in total. Since many of the boss's attacks are ranged, it's important to avoid knockbacks and try to close the distance.
Shockwave
Image: youtube.com
The boss takes flight and shoots several powerful projectiles toward the player (up to 6). The damage from this attack is fairly high, but it's not too difficult to dodge if you use dashes.
Speed
The boss dashes quickly across the arena. He can use this to gain a more advantageous position or close in on the player. In the second case, he performs a rapid dagger attack on the character, dealing Hydro damage.
Defensive Barrier
Image: youtube.com
The boss shields himself, blocking all incoming damage. The shield must be broken, but there's a slight nuance — with a certain probability, he can quickly drop the shield and perform a fast attack on the player.
Counterattack
The boss releases a shockwave that knocks back the player, but it does no damage. He always uses this ability when the "Stun" state ends.
Rain of Arrows (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
Hydro markers appear on the platform, which do not deal damage to the player by themselves. After a few seconds, Childe fires arrows into the marked areas, dealing significant damage on hit. It's fairly easy to dodge this ability.
Celestial Voyager (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
This ability requires special attention as it is the most powerful one. Childe prepares for a while and then summons a giant whale that crashes down onto the platform. This skill deals massive Hydro damage to the player, and the area of effect covers nearly the entire arena.
Phase 2: Electro Delusion
Image: youtube.com
The second phase begins when the boss's health reaches zero. Before the start of this phase, he teleports to the center of the arena and surrounds himself with a water cocoon, becoming invulnerable for several seconds.
After that, the boss changes his appearance: he dons a mask, and his costume takes on darker tones. He actively uses the Electro element in this phase. The "Tide" mechanic remains, but instead of the Hydro status, the Electro status is now applied.
The abilities "Defensive Barrier" and "Explosion" remain in this phase, with the mechanics unchanged (except for the replacement of Hydro status with Electro). Everything related to the "Stun" on the boss also remains in effect.
Speed

The boss performs a short dash toward the player and executes several strikes with Electro blades in front of him, dealing damage on hit.
Arc Spark
This ability is only used if the player is behind the boss. Childe quickly turns around, performs an arc-like spear strike, and deals Electro damage in the area.
Flicker
The boss dashes quickly to the current location of the player, dealing Electro damage in the final area.
Lightning Strikes

The boss performs several consecutive and very fast dashes toward the player, each time dealing Electro damage in his path.
Energy Drain
This ability activates only when Childe is attacked with Electro damage while he has his shield active. The boss releases a powerful discharge in front of him, dealing massive Electro damage to the player.
Dark Leap (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
The boss focuses on the player for a few seconds, then leaps onto the current position of the character, dealing high damage in the area of effect.
Phase 3: Foul Legacy Transformation
Image: youtube.com
The third phase begins when the boss's health reaches zero again. The floor of the arena collapses, and the battle continues on the lower level. The boss adopts his true form: he constantly levitates, and a dark cloak billows behind him.
The “Tide” mechanic remains in the third phase, but the applied status can now be either Hydro or Electro. If the player is already affected by the Hydro effect, any boss ability that applies Electro will refresh the current mark on the player, changing its element.
The abilities "Energy Drain", "Lightning Strikes", "Dark Leap", and "Celestial Voyager" remain.
Barrage

Fires several powerful Hydro arrows that deal damage upon hitting the player. No more than four shots are released.
Deep Wave

Releases several water explosions in the direction of the player. These deal Hydro-type damage.
Cleave

Double Strike
Performs two powerful melee attacks that deal light Electro damage.
Wrath
Image: youtube.com
Unleashes several consecutive Electro strikes in front of him. Afterward, he launches his weapon in the player’s direction. The glaive travels in a straight line for several seconds, dealing damage each second.
Storm
Image: youtube.com
After a brief delay, the boss creates an Electro explosion in the selected area.
Whirling Blade (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
The boss throws his glaive toward the player, dealing Electro damage on hit. Once the glaive reaches the other side of the arena, it moves along the edge of the arena toward Childe, dealing damage to the player on contact.
Raging Storm (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
After a brief delay, the boss launches his Hydro glaive toward the player, dealing enormous damage. He can use this ability up to three times in a row.
God Arrow (only under the effect of Tide)
Image: youtube.com
After a brief delay, the boss fires four massive arrows that cause huge Hydro damage in the area. The radius of this skill is very large, but there is a safe spot — the very center of the arena.
General Tips
The overall mechanics of Childe revolve around the "Tide" mechanic. If you can dodge his basic abilities, he won’t be able to use most of his truly powerful moves. Here are a few more simple tips to help you in battle:
- Childe’s mobility changes greatly from phase to phase. During the first and third phases, he is not very mobile, while in the second phase, he moves very quickly across the arena;
- Don’t forget that you can remove the current "Tide" effect simply by touching the edge of the arena. This will trigger the "Vaporize" or "Overload" reaction but will not cause damage to your character;
- Some characters (like Bennett) can remove the "Tide" effect from your characters on their own;
- During the battle, the boss occasionally starts... talking. At this time, he becomes vulnerable, and you can deal damage to him. Additionally, at the very start of the first and third phases, Childe is not aggressively targeting the player, which allows you to calmly aim at him or eat food to restore health.
Achievements for Defeating Childe
By defeating the boss, you can earn several achievements:
- "Outlander vs. Outlander" – Defeat Childe without triggering the "Tide" marks and the subsequent powerful attacks.
- "A Delusion's Abilities Don't Decide a Battle's Outcome" – Defeat Childe in co-op mode with another player.
