To quickly defeat a particular monster, the player needs to wound the creature. No, this isn’t some abstract concept—it’s quite real. Let’s break down how to do it.
How to Wound a Monster?
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces many interesting mechanics, including a new targeting system. You can read more about it here. As you might guess, targeting allows the player to hit the same spot on the monster’s body repeatedly. What does this do? It enables you to inflict the very wound we need. The wounded area will be highlighted in red.
Next, using the same mechanic, the hunter must continue striking the wound. This can be done with any weapon, but I recommend using a bow. With the bow, you can hit all of the creature’s wounds and, so to speak, "seal" them. However, they can be reopened if you keep hitting the same spot.
Ideally, the hunter should mount the monster. Once on top, they can inflict multiple wounds using stamina. But there’s nothing to worry about—the stamina gauge recovers fairly quickly.
Besides dealing significant damage to the monster, it can also be stunned by your character. Yes, exactly—that’s why I advise focusing on wounds if they’re present. Stunning the creature gives you an extra advantage, helping you defeat the monster as quickly as possible.
You’ll also receive a bonus in the form of materials, which will definitely come in handy if you’re collecting specific monster parts.
So, we’ve figured out how to wound creatures in MH Wilds. It’s quite simple: you need to hit the same spot to create a so-called red zone. After that, the player just needs to focus their attacks on this highlighted area.
