In the first half of October 2023, some owners of AMD graphics cards received VAC bans in CS2. This happened after they installed a driver that included support for the Anit-Lag+ feature. This same driver subsequently caused problems in several other online shooters, including Call of Duty and Apex Legends.
Nvidia has a similar system, called Reflex, but it doesn't cause problems with games because Nvidia allows developers to integrate its support into their products themselves. AMD's solution independently rewrites DLL files, which triggers the anti-cheat systems in games.
Valve released a patch for CS2 that checks for the presence of incompatible AMD graphics drivers with CS2. The developers noted that they are now unbanning users who received VAC bans due to this malfunction.
The developers also reported that they have started lifting VAC bans on players affected by the wave of bans. The company did not specify how long it would take to lift all the restrictions.
In addition, the creators fixed a bug with Windows 11 Auto HDR, which led to the disappearance of smoke and several other glitches.
