Even though Counter-Strike 2 has a massive player base and all major esports tournaments are now held in the game, some players still fondly remember CS 1.6. Veterans feel nostalgic not only about the shooting mechanics but also believe that the older version had better physics and netcode.
Today, the team behind the CS Promod project unveiled a trailer for CS: Legacy. The developers aim to create a standalone game that remakes CS 1.6 on the Source engine. CS: Legacy will use custom code and in-game assets, which means it will be different from Counter-Strike: Source.
The trailer looks amazing—old-school players might even shed a tear. So far, only two maps have been shown: de_nuke and fy_pool_day.
CS: Legacy is expected to launch in early access later this year, but judging by the current state of development, the team still has a lot of work to do. Regardless, this project is something we're eagerly anticipating!
