A Dota 2 account under the nickname El Tio Bounty has reached an unprecedented milestone of 19,000 MMR, setting an all-time record in the game's history.
However, the account isn’t operated by a legitimate player but by a Peruvian service that sells accounts with high ratings. This milestone was achieved through MMR wintrading, a method where multiple accounts owned by the same individual are placed on opposing teams in a match, with one account intentionally playing to lose. The use of double-down tokens further amplifies the MMR gain—when a win is necessary, the token is activated to double the points earned.
This same account also previously held records at 17,000 and 18,000 MMR. Such actions blatantly violate the rules and fair play spirit of Dota 2, making a ban from Valve merely a matter of time.
As for legitimate players, the highest MMR achieved stands at 16,000. This feat has been reached by well-known professional players such as Yatoro (two-time world champion), Skem, and Watson, who play for Shopify Rebellion and Gaimin Gladiators, respectively.
