Throughout Thursday, Dota 2 matchmaking was a miserable experience due to a bug. Techies was able to use the Hand of Midas an infinite number of times with almost zero cooldown. Valve fixed this issue later in the evening, but the community remains cautious.

The problem is that various bugs involving the infinite use of the Hand of Midas have been plaguing matchmaking for a good week. Developers have been trying to patch different loopholes, but players kept finding new ways to exploit them. Today's exploit with Techies is an example of an extremely easy abuse of the bug.

It's also unclear whether the players who used this bug will face any punishment. Social media is currently flooded with calls to ban abusers, possibly even permanently. Valve has not made any announcements regarding this, but the developers have occasionally taken harsh measures against cheaters in the past. Whether something similar will happen now remains to be seen, but for the time being, matchmaking seems to be playable again.
