If we count closed beta, Dota 2 is more than 13 years old. During all this time, a huge knowledge base was gathered by the community, and guides became an essential part of such a complex game. However, right now, upvoting a good guide might lead you to crazy unforeseen consequences.
Dota 2 players have started receiving Steam profile bans simply for rating in-game guides. This was reported by Reddit users who shared their experiences with Valve's customer support.
Many players claimed their Steam accounts were partially restricted after liking a guide in Dota 2. The issue seems to be primarily affecting build guides created by Torte de Lini.
It turns out that these bans were issued automatically and could be lifted through support without any further investigation. It is speculated that the bans were triggered by a system designed to combat either artificial upvotes inflation in the Steam Community section or content flagged as containing potential phishing links.
Let's hope Valve will fix it sooner rather than later, but for now, we warned you.
