Could you imagine seeing two events happening simultaneously in Dota 2? Yet, here we are, witnessing exactly that. The thing is, in addition to the epic and long-running Crownfall event, Valve has decided to add a shorter, winter-themed Frostivus event.
Frostivus has its own forge where you can "craft" rewards from essence, which players earn by completing various actions during matches. The rewards are divided into several tiers, and you won’t be able to access higher tiers until you've earned rewards from the lower ones.
It’s also worth noting that Valve has banned over 65,000 smurf accounts, which is quite a significant result. Additionally, various high-level matchmaking cheaters have been punished.
Along with Frostivus, Valve has introduced a new treasure chest and made some discounts on items from the Crownfall shop. For example, the Arcana items for Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit are now 20% cheaper. It's a small thing, but it's nice.
Frostivus and Crownfall are expected to last until January 15. Players have just under a month to collect as many rewards as possible.
