The mid-laner for T1 League of Legends team, Lee Faker Sang-hyeok, was unable to participate in the Worlds 23 Champions Skin Showcase event due to contracting COVID-19. The management announced this on X.

This decision was no to be taken lightly (as Faker is the number 1 player in the world and his Worlds 2023 story was incredible), but the management is primarily focused on the full recovery of the greatest player in the history of League of Legends. Club representatives stated that they would do everything possible to ensure Faker returns and competes in official matches as soon as possible. T1's next match will be on Friday, August 9, in the 2024 LCK Summer Split against Nongshim RedForce.

This is not the first incident involving Faker in recent days. On August 3, after a loss to Gen.G, he had a nervous breakdown. On stage, the esports athlete started hitting his head against the wall until he was pulled away and hugged by carry Lee Gumayusi Min-hyeong.

While the stakes in the esports competition might be really high, the health comes first. We wish a speedy recovery to Faker and hope he will come back stronger!
