Riot Games is experimenting with a new way to control champions in League of Legends — and it might feel more like an action game than a MOBA. According to dataminer SkinSpotlights, a test version of LoL now includes an optional control scheme using the keyboard for movement.

Traditionally, LoL players move and click with the mouse while casting abilities with the keyboard. The new setup changes that, letting players walk using the WASD keys. There’s also an option for abilities to auto-cast in the direction your champion is moving, giving a more direct, fast-paced feel.

This isn’t the first time Riot has played with WASD controls — they briefly appeared in the limited-time PvE mode Invasion. But now, it looks like Riot is seriously exploring this style for the main game, though there's no confirmed release date for regular servers yet.

Fans are split on the idea. While some are curious, many worry this could hurt game balance or even shake up the competitive scene too much. Whether it sticks or not, it’s clear Riot is thinking about new ways to evolve how League is played.
