With less than a week after a game breaking bug appeared, Silent Hill 2 Remake received a hotfix addressing the critical cube puzzle bug in the labyrinth. This issue appeared with the update on October 21 and prevented further progress for players using save files from earlier versions. With this hotfix, the problem has been resolved.

In update 1.05, a safeguard has been added to Silent Hill 2 that ensures the proper activation of necessary scripts, thus preventing any blockages in progression. The fix is already live on both platforms, PC and PS 5.

In addition to bug fixes, PC players have gained a cloud save feature on Steam. The game now automatically syncs with cloud-stored save data. If local saves are outdated, they are replaced by cloud saves without a prompt.

Developers have recommended creating backups of save files for players who want to keep multiple progress points. No additional changes have been noted in hotfix 1.05.
