At PAX East, Hangar 13 lifted the veil on their new project, sharing the first details.

According to the developers, the game is crafted in the spirit of "classic mafia cinema" and follows the downfall of Enzo Favara as he sinks to the lowest depths of the criminal underworld.

The combat system reflects the era’s essence:

The story unfolds during a time when mastery of the blade offered a deadly advantage, and a sawed-off shotgun was considered elite weaponry.

Players will engage in both close-quarters and ranged combat, utilizing stealth kills to eliminate threats.

Hangar 13 is focusing on high-stakes, "life-or-death" encounters that demand tactical thinking. As assistant director Joshua Zammit explains, as Enzo "proves his skill with weapons", he faces "resource scarcity", forcing players to strategize carefully.

A key gameplay element is the knife—a tool for silent kills and brutal duels that heighten the sense of mortal danger.

The knife isn’t just a weapon—it’s part of Sicilian identity. We aimed to create truly gripping action where every knife fight or shootout makes players feel like their life is hanging by a thread.

Mafia: The Old Country releases on August 8, 2025, for Xbox Series, PS5, and PC.
