Ubisoft has revealed fresh insights into the combat and progression systems within Assassins Creed Shadows. Game director Charles Benoit shared information regarding character development mechanics, loot distribution, and weapon variety.
The game features two primary progression elements: mastery points and knowledge points. Mastery points are earned by leveling up or defeating powerful enemies, while knowledge points are gained through mission completion and item discovery. These points unlock new abilities and provide opportunities for weapon enhancement.
Each weapon in the game comes with its own upgrade tree, allowing players to create personalized builds. Players can reset their progress at any time to experiment with different strategies and weapons. Notably, each weapon offers unique bonuses suited to specific situations. For example, legendary items like the naginata enable players to counter otherwise unstoppable attacks that other weapons cannot deflect.
The combat system in Assassins Creed Shadows supports stealthy elimination of all enemies but encourages players to utilize diverse combat approaches. As characters develop, additional stat upgrades become available, allowing players to refine their skills further. The developers assure that mastering all techniques and upgrades will require significant time investment.
Assassins Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans can look forward to a rich experience blending stealth, combat, and strategic progression.
