BioWare announced that its newest game will change its title from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf to Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The company announced this on its website, publishing an updated logo.
BioWare stated that the name change was made to better align with the spirit of the next chapter in the franchise. Bioware head Gary McKay acknowledged that Dreadwolf, the previous subtitle of the RPG, was very cool. However, the authors still preferred a title that was more authentic to the narrative.
The studio head stated that they decided not to include the Roman numeral "IV" in the game’s title for the same reason they didn't use "III" in Inquisition, which was released in 2014. The developers made this choice because each part of the series tells its own story—with a unique main character, characters, villains, and setting.
The game will feature seven unique companions for the main character. As for the subtitle The Veilguard, it better reflects their rich and engaging storylines, as well as the need for the characters to unite to face a terrifying threat looming over the world.
On June 11, BioWare will release the first gameplay video of Dragon Age: The Veilguard on their YouTube channel. The title currently does not have a release date. It might be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 or Summer Game Fest 2024 presentations, or during the gameplay reveal. According to leaks, the game is expected to be released in 2024.
