A player known as b00lin spent 763 days and went through a legal battle to overturn a ban issued by Activision and restore their reputation on Steam. They detailed the entire journey in a blog post.

b00lin received the ban after playing over 36 hours of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta in December 2023. Initially, they assumed it was due to errors during testing, but Activision upheld the ban even after b00lin reported the issue. Most players would have given up at that point, but b00lin decided to fight back.

Activision refused to provide any evidence of alleged cheating, citing security concerns—even though b00lin only requested "harmless" information like the name of the software being flagged.

The case eventually went to court, where it was revealed that Activision’s lawyers had no actual proof of wrongdoing. It seems the company takes anti-cheat secrecy extremely seriously. In the end, the court ruled in favor of b00lin, ordering Activision to cover their legal fees and lift the ban. This finally happened in early 2025.
