April 1st is a day full of surprises, and along with countless fake news stories, new and unexpected details about the cancelled Disco Elysium spin-off, codenamed Project X7, have emerged. As it turns out, the game was called Locust City An Elysium Story and focused on the infamous Cuno and his companion Cuna.

The fresh details came to light thanks to a leaked video from an internal ZA/UM presentation, where recently fired developers showcase some of the work-in-progress material. This includes leading narrative designer Dora Klindžić. In an interview last year, Klindžić mentioned that the project had reached its final stages before cancellation, with a planned release date for late 2024 or early 2025.
According to a narrative document presented in the leak, the game was planned to have five acts and five possible endings. As a “vertical slice,” Klindžić used Act 2, where the protagonists’ journey begins following Kuno’s father’s death.
In Locust City An Elysium Story, players would control both Cuno and Cuna. The gameplay was described as “single-player co-op,” where players made decisions for both characters. Cuno and Cuna had their own unique skills and perspectives, and while they could collaborate, they could also come into conflict, potentially even to the point of killing each other.
The creation of Locust City was also hampered by ZA/UM’s executive director, Tõnis Haavel, who required that all work pass through him. This situation became even more complicated after the investigative work of the People Make Games YouTube channel, which led to a documentary about the issues within ZA/UM.
