Bungie has released the launch trailer for "The Final Shape" expansion for its MMO shooter Destiny 2, launching June 4th, 2024 on PC and consoles.

"The Final Shape" will introduce new story missions, explorable locations, enemies, weapon types, armor pieces, and other gear. Additionally, Guardians will gain access to a new subclass, allowing them to combine Light and Darkness abilities into unique combat styles. According to developers, DLC will conclude the storyline that began in the original Destiny in 2014. The trailer teases a final confrontation with the Witness — a mysterious threat that has pursued Guardians for years.

Announced in August 2023 under the code name "The Final Pattern", "The Final Shape" was originally slated for a February 27th, 2024 release. However, Bungie delayed it to June 4th to properly refine the climactic portion of Destiny's story. As the studio head stated, they want to deliver an epic finale for fans of the series.

Destiny 2, launched in 2017, has since received numerous expansions expanding its story campaign and multiplayer content. After "The Final Shape's" release, Bungie plans to support Destiny 2 for a few more years before transitioning to a new full entry in the series.
