Crytek has confirmed a series of internal staff reductions as part of its restructuring efforts. Facing financial challenges, the company has decided to lay off approximately 60 employees, which accounts for roughly 15% of its total workforce of 400 people.

In the same announcement, Crytek disclosed that the development of the next Crysis title has been temporarily halted. This decision was reportedly made during the third quarter of 2024. For now, the studio is channeling all its resources into advancing Hunt: Showdown 1896.

The developers revealed that they explored the possibility of reassigning staff to ongoing projects like Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis game. However, this approach was deemed unworkable. Despite implementing various measures to reduce expenses, the studio concluded that layoffs were unavoidable.

Moving forward, Crytek will prioritize expanding content for Hunt: Showdown 1896, while the highly anticipated new Crysis installment has been delayed indefinitely. The studio has assured that affected employees will receive severance packages and career transition support.

Despite these setbacks, Crytek remains optimistic about its future. The company is committed to further developing Hunt: Showdown 1896 and advancing its CRYENGINE technology.
