Divinity: Original Sin 2 — Definitive Edition has received an age rating from the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) agency for two biggest gaming consoles of the latest generation (PS5 and Xbox Series). This might mean that the possible release of upgraded console ports is quite near.
Currently, this RPG from Larian Studios runs on current-generation consoles via backward compatibility. According to the Backwards Compatible site, the game displays at checkerboard 4K at 30 fps on Sony consoles, while on Microsoft platforms, it runs at full 2160p.
Details on native versions have yet to be announced, but it’s possible they could feature at least improved resolution and higher frame rates. Yet Larian may prepare some surprises.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 was originally released in 2017, followed by the expanded Definitive Edition in 2018. The fantasy RPG has a score of 92 out of 100 on Metacritic from critics and holds a 95% positive rating on Steam. In 2023 Larian released an even more successful and critically acclaimed game, Baldur's Gate III.
