Electronic Arts (EA) has reportedly cut between 300 and 400 jobs globally, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. Among those affected are approximately 100 employees from Respawn Entertainment — the studio behind popular titles such as Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi. The layoffs coincide with the cancellation of two unannounced projects in early development stages, one of which was an extraction shooter based on the Titanfall universe, internally known under the codename “R7.”

Respawn Entertainment addressed the news through a statement posted on X, acknowledging changes within the company while avoiding direct use of terms like “layoffs” or “cancellations.”

“We’ve made the decision to stop work on two early-stage projects and make targeted adjustments to the Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi teams,” the official message read.

The restructuring extends beyond Respawn, impacting various EA departments — including customer support and marketing teams. This marks the second major round of job cuts for the company in recent years. In 2023, EA let go of around 800 employees, followed by another 670 layoffs in 2024. As of March 2024, EA employed roughly 13,700 people worldwide.

Justin Higgs, an EA spokesperson, stated that these changes are part of the company's efforts to align with long-term strategic priorities and ensure sustainable future growth.
