Electronic Arts' soccer simulators are often criticized. It's not just about monetization, the technical state is also sometimes questioned.

The criticism of EA Sports FC 25 has reached the point where it was decided to act: the developers have prepared a “Gameplay Refresh Update”, which includes more than 50 changes that affect the game mechanics, for example:

  • Significant changes to core gameplay systems such as assists, shots, goalkeeper play and defense play.
  • Corrected situations that were all too common in which defenders were catching up with the ball carrier.
  • Smoother gameplay in attack - now it will be easier to move the ball.
  • Reduced the frequency of reverse tackles and interceptions by the AI.
  • The effectiveness of crossing passes has been significantly reduced.
  • Players are now quicker to provide support if they are playing in a familiar role.
  • Improved the quality of offside detection when AI-controlled players make offensive runs.
  • Slightly improved the accuracy of normal and aimed shots taken in simple conditions from outside the penalty area.

Just 36% of the 474 player reviews on release of EA FC 25 were positive, reflecting the majority of the early reviews being negative. The perceived greed of Electronic Arts, the game's many bugs and crashes, and its difficulties identifying PlayStation controllers have all drawn harsh criticism.

Additionally, because of its anti-cheat mechanism, the game is incompatible with Steam Deck.
