Epic Games launched a new mode in Fortnite called Ballistic. On paper, this is a clone of popular esports games like Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant. However, in its current state and concept, it won't compete with them.
Currently, Ballistic is in early access. Only one map is available, and the weapon line-up is really limited: two guns, two shotguns, two SMGs, several rifles and one sniper rifle. The matches are short; you need to win seven rounds, like in Rainbow Six Siege, but the round length is like in CS2. So the match lasts around 15 minutes.
The movement, aiming and skins all came from the main game. Despite having a first-person view, it has fast movement, lots of parkour and slides. This is great for fun modes but not competitive games. So, for those of you who asked if Ballistic will be competing with Counter-Strike, the answer is a hard no.
Ballistic is a great punchline towards Roblox. Considering that both games aim at a younger audience, this makes total sense. As Roblox is a platform where players recreate other games, why don't Fortnite offer the same? Considering the variety of different genres, we won't be surprised if new clones of popular games and genres will appear in Fortnite.
