Blizzard has officially introduced Freya, the newest hero in Overwatch 2, described as a relentless bounty hunter set to debut in Season 16. Players, however, will have the opportunity to test her earlier during a limited trial event from March 21 to March 24.

Freya is a Danish bounty hunter equipped with a crossbow capable of firing explosive arrows. She also possesses an ability that allows her to leap high into the air, performing multiple small dashes while descending. Her ultimate ability, Bola, immobilizes enemies by pulling them toward the center of its impact zone.

To celebrate the upcoming testing phase, the developers released a character-focused trailer. Additionally, an animated comic will be released on March 20, followed by a gameplay video on March 21.

According to Blizzard, Freya was designed for players who prioritize precision, agility, and tactical superiority. In combat, she combines her explosive crossbow with swift aerial maneuvers to deliver powerful top-down attacks.

Freya’s full release is scheduled for April 22 alongside the start of Season 16. Later this year, Overwatch 2 will welcome two more heroes: a support character codenamed Aqua in Season 18 and a mysterious gladiator in Season 20.
