La Quimera, the ambitious debut project from Reburn, a studio formed by former 4A Games Ukraine developers, was originally scheduled to launch on April 25. However, the release did not happen as planned. In an announcement through their official Discord channel, the Metro series veterans revealed the game’s indefinite delay.

In their message, Reburn apologized to fans and supporters, citing unexpected challenges faced as a newly independent developer. They emphasized their commitment to resolving the issues as quickly as possible but did not provide a new release window.

The exact reasons for the delay were not detailed, but reviews published today shed light on the situation. Critics were overwhelmingly disappointed, noting that despite involvement from Nicolas Winding Refn and experienced developers, the final product fell short.

Reviewers criticized La Quimera’s outdated visuals, which did not match the promotional screenshots. They also pointed out a lack of innovation and poor performance optimization, with the game maxing out CPU usage without maintaining stable frame rates. Additional complaints highlighted poor voice acting, weak environmental design, and frequent glitches, including dialogue continuing to play after skipped cutscenes.
