This was officially confirmed by Game Director Joe Ziegler. According to him, Bungie is actively considering adding this feature, but first needs to address all safety and moderation aspects. As Ziegler noted, they want to figure out how to implement it in the best possible way.

The developer also shared several key details about the project's current status:

  • Despite numerous community questions about the fate of the franchise's classic alien races, Bungie isn't ready to reveal all story details yet
  • Following the technical test, the team received massive feedback, so they're currently working on improving TTK and balance, updating icons, and other adjustments
  • All four announced maps will be shown before release
  • The alpha build was compiled two months ago, but the team still has five months for significant improvements
  • They're working to enhance the solo experience so players can stand their ground against cooperative groups even when playing alone
  • The training mode will only be added after the official launch
  • Exterior visuals and lighting systems remain unfinished, with substantial work still ahead

The good news is that developers are genuinely listening to feedback and addressing critical issues (like the aforementioned proximity chat and solo mode). The real question is - will they manage to implement everything by launch?
