Hashino stated that he would like to make a game set in the Sengoku period when questioned about the studio's future ambitions. He thinks it would make a suitable backdrop for a brand-new Japanese role-playing game, possibly modeled after the Basara series.

Hashino acknowledged that there are currently no firm intentions to make Metaphor: ReFantazio a series. However, he stated that he wanted to see the project through to completion. The director claims that the game was once intended to be the third Japanese role-playing game series, following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. Her objective is to become the company's main initiative.

Although Hashino stated earlier in the interview that there are no plans for a sequel, the crew is already working on the next project, which is unlikely to be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. On the other hand, there is talk of an anime adaptation. Metaphor: Atlus' most successful platform launch to date is ReFantazio.

The game's concurrent user count has topped 85,961. Persona 5 Royal reached 35,474 players, while Persona 3 Reload reached 45,002. The game is compatible with PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
