The Australian Classification Board has issued age ratings for two games titled MW2 – PS5 Cross-Gen Edition and MW3 – Cross-Gen Edition. Given that both are rated for adults only and the publisher is listed as Activision Blizzard, it's likely we’re looking at new re-releases of Call of Duty titles.

New age rating certification suggests soon release of CoD MW2 and MW3 remastersImage: classification.gov.au

It’s not entirely clear which specific games are being referenced. The use of Arabic numerals in the titles may suggest remasters of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Modern Warfare 3 (2011). Notably, Modern Warfare 3 (2011) was never released beyond PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360—so a remastered version would give players a chance to relive memories on a better hardware or to learn, why the Modern Warfare trilogy is considered a gaming classic.

Interestingly, back in February, there were rumors about the original MW2 appearing in the Xbox subscription. Overall, it is a great sign: when some governments issue age ratings to the game, it usually means that something will be released very soon. We just hope that all the exploits and threats will be fixed, so the multiplayer modes are safe to play.
