Game director Jiwon Choi shared details during a talk at GDC 2025, explaining that the expansion was developed based on extensive player feedback and included ideas that didnât make it into the original version of the project.
Overture will transport players to the past of the city of Krat, where they will witness the bloody Puppet Massacre and follow the trail of Leaâa mysterious stalker driven by vengeance. The DLC will introduce new bosses, unique weapons, and previously unexplored locations, along with rich content that was initially shelved due to tight development deadlines. Choi admitted that working on the expansion felt like an opportunity to bring to life what was envisioned but left unrealized in the base game. Essentially, itâs a "Directorâs Cut" of the project.
He emphasized that Overture is not a standalone add-on but an integral part of the original story, designed to give it a sense of completion. The playtime will range from 15 to 20 hours for experienced players, though the exact duration depends on individual playstyles.
Among the new additions are various types of weaponry, including the previously revealed bow and claws. The difficulty level variesâsome segments are tailored for newcomers, while others will challenge even seasoned genre veterans.
Choi added that the warm reception of the base game inspired the team to create Overture, which will serve as a worthy conclusion to the saga. This DLC wonât just expand the universe of Lies of Pâit will also offer fans thrilling challenges and fresh experiences.
The expansion is set to release in summer 2025. Access will unlock starting from Chapter 9 of the main campaign.
