The cult zombie apocalypse title Dying Light from 2015 has unexpectedly resurged with incredible popularity. This is due to a special promotion by Techland, where the price of the acclaimed hit dropped to a record low of $2.99.
This open-world post-apocalyptic game, which won gamers' hearts with impressive parkour and brutal combat against the undead, was released almost 10 years ago. However, its relevance hasn't faded, as demonstrated by recent events on Steam.
According to SteamDB, in the last 24 hours, 40,279 players were simultaneously in-game. For comparison, its all-time peak in 9 years was 45,876, while last month's April peak was only 5,073 players.
While the historical 2023 record remains unbroken, such numbers years after release are still impressive. Notably, Dying Light last approached these figures on Steam in February 2022 during the sequel's launch. It seems the developers timed the price drop perfectly to reignite interest in the original.
